London Bees 0-2 Yeovil Town Ladies

Published: 30 Oct 2016

Yeovil Town confirmed promotion to the Women’s Super League 1 today with a 2-0 win over London Bees.

Kayleigh Green scored her first ever Yeovil goal to open the scoring with a second half header.

Substitute Nadia Lawrence came off the bench to score a second in the last ten minutes.

Over 100 fans travelled from Yeovil to watch their side gain promotion to the top-flight of Women’s Football for the first time in their history.

It was Yeovil who had the best of the early chances, with Lucy Quinn getting on the end of a Kirsten Rendell cross but it was dragged wide of the far post.

Despite Yeovil’s early dominance, London Bees came back into the game in the second half with a host of chances, and it took two clearances from Helen Bleazard who got in the way of two goal-bound shots after Charlotte Haynes spilled the ball.

Haynes made up for her spill just six minutes later after she turned a volley from Evie Clarke round the far post to keep it goalless.

Yeovil had an early second half chance, with a looping Nicola Cousins header from Quinn’s corner going just over the bar.

Kayleigh Green opened the scoring in the 57th minute, heading the ball onto the crossbar and in from a Quinn cross.

Yeovil made sure of a win with a goal in the last 81st minute, with Lawrence finishing off a swift counter-attack from Yeovil.

Yeovil joined WSL2 just three years ago and will be champions with a win next week.
