Spaniard Daniel Pedrosa made an outstanding comeback by winning the Malaysian MotoGP race on Sunday, after fully recovering from a badly injured hip two weeks ago.

The incident happened during the Aragon GP, when Pedrosa and his team-mate Marc Maquez came into contact, forcing Pedrosa to retire from the race.

Pedrosa, whose win is the third of the season, finished more than two seconds in front of team-mate Marc Marquez, with compatriot Jorge Lorenzo securing the last place on the podium.

Valentino Rossi came in 4th in front of Alvaro Bautista, Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith. Dovizioso secured 8th position finishing ahead of Aleix Espargaro and Yonny Hernandez to complete the top ten.

The race started with Lorenzo leading down the first corner, and Pedrosa, Rossi, and Marquez close behind. Marquez quickly passed Rossi for third position with these positions being kept for the first few laps. However, five laps in, Pedrosa overtook Lorenzo and started to open a healthy gap between himself and the three riders behind.

The race also saw a fierce battle between championship leader Marquez and World Champion Lorenzo, who battled for the second place overtaking each other several times. With 11 laps remaining, Marquez made a decisive move on Lorenzo and went on to secure second place and 20 vital points for the championship.

The end of the race also witnessed Italian champion, Valentino Rossi, waving a Marco Simoncelli flag during the cooling down lap to remember his compatriot, who died nearly two years ago at the same track, following a terrible crash.

In the riders’ standings, Marquez currently leads with 298 points ahead of Lorenzo with 255 points and Pedrosa in third with 244.
